It provides multiple viewing options to visualize your campaign’s schedule, track key milestones, and stay on top of compliance deadlines. As a result, your team can coordinate activities efficiently and remain on schedule throughout the election cycle.

How to Use the Timelines Tool

Basic, Detailed, and Visual Views

Use the view selector at the top of the page to switch between different timeline formats.

  • Basic view: Displays a simplified list of tasks and deadlines.

  • Detailed view: Shows additional context for each event, including descriptions and related actions.

  • Visual view: Plots events on a horizontal timeline for a quick, at-a-glance understanding of when tasks occur.

Each view provides a different way to understand your campaign progress. For example, the visual layout is ideal for presentations, while the detailed list helps with planning and coordination. In addition, switching between views can help you identify gaps or overlaps in your campaign schedule.

Interactive Slider

At the bottom of the timeline, use the date-range slider to adjust how much time is displayed.

You can drag the ends to focus on short-term milestones or expand the range to view the entire election cycle. Additionally, this tool helps you zoom in on key moments as deadlines approach. As a result, you’ll always have a clear picture of your upcoming tasks.

Zoom and Reset Controls

Use the zoom-in and zoom-out buttons to change the scale of the timeline.

After adjusting the view, select Reset View to return to the default full-timeline layout. This feature ensures you can explore the schedule freely without losing your original context. Furthermore, zooming allows you to prioritize critical weeks or events as they approach.

Today and Election Markers

Vertical lines labeled Today and Election Day show your current position and the date of the election.

These markers help you quickly orient yourself and understand how much time remains until Election Day.

Event Categories and Legend

The timeline distinguishes between categories such as regulatory deadlines, outreach actions, and recommended activities.

Refer to the legend for color codes. In addition, you can hover over or click on events to view details like due dates, descriptions, and compliance notes. This interactivity makes it easy to organize, prioritize, and manage several campaign initiatives simultaneously.

Ballot Receipts Projection (Visual View)

In the Visual view, the timeline includes a chart projecting when vote-by-mail and in-person ballots are expected to be received.

For example, campaigns can use this projection to time outreach and messaging for maximum impact.
